National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus

Museum's History

The Museum of Contemporary Belarusian Statehood was created in accordance with the protocol of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, on February 28, 2010, as a branch of the state institution "National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus". Today, it's one of the youngest museums in Belarus. Festive opening of the museum was held on June 22, 2012 with the participation of A.G. Lukashenko . The museum was opened for visitors in August 2012.

The scientific concept of the exposition was developed by leading specialists of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, scientists from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The concept's central idea was recognition of the national identity of the Belarusian people and the sovereignty of the Belarusian state.

In general, the main objective of the museum's exposition corresponds to the words of the Presidential Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on April 23, 2009: "... to create an attractive image of a country, which is developing in a difficult, volatile world; a country that, with people’s efforts, without stress and social chaos, in a relatively short period of time has built an independent state – the Republic of Belarus, which is respected and esteemed in the world; a country, which has no contradictions in the governmental, economic and spiritual life, and this, in turn, creates the necessary foundations for further confident progress".
